i wrote a poem. what.
Locks of hair tucked behind pages
With pictures of your baby face
Glowing in the summer shine
There’s enough time, so much time
The smell of pine and that old book
The one that told of the sea
Big enough to fill your stomach
A rush, a wait, asleep
A glass jar with six silver stars
One for each time you said my name
Meant it while we floated free
Laid out on the field of wheat
Baby teeth stacked inside Papa’s chest
Twenty-two years and there’s still a spark
Heavy gold in the corner of my lungs
Nothing has ended, nothing has begun.
